Lead Us Into the Fullness of Truth

Wednesday of the Sixth Sunday of Easter
John 16:12–15

Jesus speaks tenderly in this passage, acknowledging that his disciples cannot yet fully comprehend and carry everything Jesus longs to share with them. It’s a moment of deep compassion. Jesus doesn’t overwhelm them. He doesn’t rush them. Instead, Jesus promises the gentle, steady guidance of the Holy Spirit, who will lead them into all truth—one step at a time.

There’s something reassuring about that. We often expect ourselves to have everything figured out—our faith, our decisions, our relationships, our purpose. But Jesus reminds us that spiritual understanding is a journey, not a race. The Spirit meets us where we are and walks with us at a pace we can bear.

Jesus also tells us that the Spirit will glorify him by taking what belongs to Christ and revealing it to us. In other words, the Spirit’s work is always rooted in love—helping us see Jesus more clearly, trust him more deeply, and recognize his presence in the ordinary rhythms of our days.

This passage invites us to rest in the truth that God is not finished with us. The Spirit continues to teach, illuminate, and guide. Even when we feel uncertain or spiritually “incomplete,” God is patiently leading us forward, revealing truth in ways we can receive.

Wherever you find yourself today—confident or confused, peaceful or overwhelmed—Jesus’ promise remains: You are not alone. The Spirit is with you, guiding you into the fullness of God’s love.

You are invited to reflect today about what part of your life feels unclear or unfinished, and how might you invite the Holy Spirit to guide you there? Where have you recently sensed the Spirit helping you understand something in a new or deeper way?

Holy Spirit, gentle Guide,
open my heart to the truth you desire to reveal.
Lead me with patience and wisdom.
Help me trust that you are with me in every step,
teaching me, strengthening me, and drawing me
closer to the heart of Jesus.
Amen.
