Our Journey Continues

OPENING PRAYER

Lord, Jesus Christ,
You are the Way, the Truth and the Life.
Hear our prayer for truth and integrity
in all segments of society today.

May the truth be spoken by us and affirmed in others,
that in seeking truth, the world will come to find You,
the Source of All Truth.

Wherever relationships are weakened
by deception or hypocrisy,
strengthen good Christian character among us
that we may bear witness to the critical need for truth.

May your Spirit of Truth fashion minds and hearts
open to a moral integrity so strong
that both words and actions can be trusted.

In public and private life,
deepen among us a genuine commitment
to honest, sincerity and truth-telling.

Let nations and peoples not compromise truth
by rationalization or pretense,
but safe-guard and defend it always
as Your most precious gift.

Lord, may those around us come to know
that they can take us at our word,
until that day when all the world lives in truth
and the Truth sets us free.
Amen.

"OUR FAITH JOURNEY CONTINUES"
What have you learned from these articles, videos, and other resources regarding the Catholic faith tradition?.

We have journeyed together to learn more about our Catholic faith tradition through our weekly readings of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults (“USCCA”), published by the Bishops of the United States, together with having the opportunity to review prayers, scripture readings, and other resources provided through videos, music, articles, and other resources published on this blog. If you journeyed with us during this entire time, we have now finished our weekly readings of the USCCA. You can continue your review and study of the USCCA and other resources that are published in the "Journey Through the USCCA" section of this blog.

Some may believe that our journey to learn more about our Catholic faith tradition has ended. In fact, if you ask some young people and adults today, they may tell you that their need to learn more about their faith ended when they received their Sacrament of Confirmation.

Our present, finite existence can never fully know God, who is infinite and eternal Mystery, except to the extent that God has revealed the Godself to us. During our lifetime we may only get limited or partial glimpses, images, insights, or experiences of who God is for us.

Just as a person continues to age from the time of their birth until their physical death, so too, we are called to continually learn to grow in loving and meaningful relationships with God, with one another, with ourselves, and with all of creation that can transform us. It is a lifelong journey that only ends when we are blessed to live eternally with our God and see God “face to face.”

We do not travel alone, but are joined by others along this journey of life. We are guided, nourished, and empowered by the teachings, actions, and life-giving ways of Jesus, Holy Scripture, our Catholic Christian faith Tradition, our personal experiences, the experiences of others, those who journeyed before us, the Sacraments, prayer, and especially by the indwelling Holy Spirit.

Continue to journey with us each week as we next consider various social issues facing us today and the Church’s teachings regarding these social issues.
REFLECT ON YOUR EXPERIENCE

What new insights about our Catholic faith tradition did you discover?

What practices such as prayer, reading, and reflection will help you to continue your journey of faith?
We encourage and invite you to  spend time to reflect, pray, and write in your journal about what you have read, seen, heard, or experienced this week. You can find some questions you may wish to consider here.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
as it was in the beginning, in now, and ever shall be.
Amen.
