Always Search for the Truth

There are many different degrees of "truths" and hierarchies of "truths." However, if the infinite and eternal God is the fullness of all Truth, then Truth can never be fully and completely known, at least not in our finiteness. At best, we only get glimpses or degrees of Truth that God chooses to reveal to us.
For example, Scripture teaches that "God is Love" (1 John 4:8). Trying to understand what that means can only be understood and expressed in the finiteness of our human condition and language, and we can never capture the entire depth or completeness of God's infinite understanding or meaning of that term. Our search is an ongoing process whereby we can always discover more of the depths of what Truth or Love are.

There are many institutions, groups, or persons today who claim to possess "the truth," who claim they are mediators and protectors of "the truth," and who may seek to prevent, suppress, or disparage others from questioning or challenging "their truths," or the underlying data claimed to support them. Some of these claimed "truths" may be fallacious or based on deception, or arise from self-interest, ignorance, erroneous worldviews or limited points of view, assumptions or limited data that are invalid, insufficient, incomplete or, at the very least, are subject to further questioning or challenge.

We can begin to appreciate why people are suspicious of the "truths" espoused by these institutions, groups, or persons. At the same time, we must not allow ourselves to become or to proclaim to be the chosen possessors and dispensers of Truth. Similarly, we should not strive to relativize Truth, or claim that what is Truth is determined by our own choices or beliefs, whether individually or in association with others. At best, we can only point towards our limited viewpoint and understanding of Truth and, when doing so, it must always be done through and with Love.

We should never abandon our continuing search for Truth or the Divine Presence that is Truth, nor should we abdicate our responsibility to do so to others. There are many different paths or ways that we can follow with the hope that they may eventually lead us towards Truth. Some paths or ways are more direct than others, some are circuitous and lead us back to where we started, some detour us towards a different direction, some lead us nowhere, and some may lead to hardship or disaster.

We are not alone in our search for the best path or way to follow. We can look to Perennial Wisdom that has evolved throughout the ages, and to the Holy Spirit to guide us and point us towards a right path or way leading us closer towards experiencing Truth
Christians believe that Christ is "the light of the world. Whoever follows [Christ] will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (Jn 8:12) Christ is also "the way and the truth, and the life" (Jn 14:6). As Christ promised, if you remain in his word "you will know the truth, and the truth will make [or set] you free" (Jn 8:31–32). Wherever, whenever, from whomever, and however we experience Truth, Love, Goodness, or Beauty, we are experiencing the Presence of God.
